CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Statement

At Southern New Hampshire University, we know many of our students are facing significant challenges due to the ongoing pandemic. To assist students who have been impacted financially, SNHU is distributing Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds via the CARES Act, the Corona Virus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act and the American Recovery Plan. These Higher Education Emergency Relief programs supply funding for institutions to provide emergency financial aid grants to students who have been impacted by the pandemic, many of whom are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet.

These funding programs require all colleges and universities participating in the programs to provide access to the following information.

Program Eligibility & Selection:

Program funds are student facing and distributed on behalf of learners who were otherwise not be financially able to pursue higher education AND who completed their public high school education in Manchester during the COVID-19 pandemic. As each institution has their own policies and procedures, each HEI navigated the selection process as they felt appropriate. The process, at minimum, had to consider financial need and how to build a supportive environment around these learners to maximize their persistence and outcomes.

SNHU admission worked with the Manchester school district and their guidance counselors, faculty, and district leadership to identify potential candidates. There were also eligible students who had applied to SNHU but had expressed concerns about their inability to financially attend the University.
